The Swaledale community came together on Bank Holiday Monday for the 112th Reeth Agricultural Show, as visitors, farmers and competitors gathered for one of the Yorkshire Dales’ best-loved annual events.
The long-running show, held on the Reeth Showground once again brought together livestock judging, rural crafts, food, trade stands, vintage machinery, children’s entertainment and traditional fell running.
Reeth Brass Band opened proceedings with its annual march through the village before the showground filled with visitors enjoying a packed programme of countryside competition and entertainment.
The event is one of the final major agricultural shows of the Dales season and is a fixture of the August Bank Holiday calendar.
Sheep classes remained at the heart of the show, providing a platform for farmers from Swaledale and beyond to showcase the quality of their stock.
Visitors were also able to browse displays of vintage tractors and machinery, watch fell runners take on the testing course and explore stalls celebrating local produce, crafts and businesses.
The show has continued to combine the competitive side of Dales farming with a family day out, attracting residents, former villagers returning home for the weekend and tourists visiting the area.
