A person has been taken to hospital after a serious motorbike crash in Ferryhill.
Police and paramedics were called to the A167 just after 1am this morning (August 5) after a rider and pillion passenger fell from a motorbike.
The road was shut both northbound and southbound between the Dean Road junction and the Jet Garage, in Chilton, for several hours as a result.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) sent several ambulance crews to the scene and treated one person with a suspected pelvic fracture. They were then taken to hospital.
The road has since reopened.
The crash was one of two overnight in County Durham, the second being on the B6532 in Edmondsley, near Sacriston, Durham.

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called just after 1am this morning (August 5) to reports that a rider and pillion passenger had fallen from a motorbike on the A167 in Ferryhill.
"We dispatched three ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic, a doctor in a rapid response car and a duty officer who treated one patient with a suspected pelvic fracture before conveying to hospital."
