A trio of young burglars have admitted charges arising from a house break-in and attempts to take vehicles using stolen keys, one of them successful.
Liam Duckling, 21, appeared at a Durham Crown Court plea hearing alongside youth defendants, aged 16 and 17.
They each denied a joint charge of aggravated burglary of a house in Surtees Avenue, Ferryhill, on April 25 this year, but entered guilty pleas to a simple charge of burglary at the property.
Duckling denied possession of a knife and axe, also in Surtees Terrace, on the same date, but his co-accused both admitted the charge.
All three defendants also admitted theft of a Kawasaki ZZR 1200 motorbike and attempted theft of a Kia Ceed car, both also on April 25.

Prosecuting counsel Anthony Pettengell said he would have to take instruction from the reviewing Crown lawyer as to whether the pleas to simple burglary, as opposed to the more serious aggravated burglary, would be acceptable.
Judge Nathan Adams said he would adjourn the hearing until the middle of next month to allow the prosecution to make that decision.
