Firefighters have issued a plea for help after dealing with 14 deliberates fires.

Saltburn Community Fire Station said they have received an increased number of call-outs for intentional fires across East Cleveland.

The station is now urging residents to help address the ongoing issue, having attended 14 deliberate fires in the area in July alone.

According to Cleveland Fire Brigade, more than 80 per cent of its fire-related call-outs involve deliberate fires -  typically including rubbish, refuse, grass, and vehicle fires.

In a social media post, Saltburn Community Fire Station said: "Earlier this week Saltburn on-call crew [were] dealing with deliberate fires in East Cleveland.

"Incidents like this put lives at risk and harm the environment."

The station believes community collaboration could help to reduce arson and enhance neighbourhood safety.

Firefighters are encouraging anyone with information regarding deliberate fires, attacks on emergency crews, or fire safety concerns to report them anonymously through FireStoppers.

They said: "We need your help. We all want to take pride in our neighbourhoods and our communities need to work together to tackle arson.

"Speaking up can help keep our community safe."

Anyone with information can contact FireStoppers anonymously on 0800 169 5558 or through their website.
