A popular paddling pool in Knaresborough has reopened just in time for the summer holidays.

The pool, at Bebra Gardens, is one of three to reopen after recent improvements. The reopening follows a period of closure due to issues identified during routine maintenance checks.

Councillor Malcolm Taylor, North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for highways and transport, said: "We would once again like to thank families for their continued patience while essential refurbishments have been carried out to the three paddling pools.

"It has been a complicated process, with our teams working around the clock to open them as quickly as possible.

"With the summer holidays in full swing, we hope families visit the sites and cool off when the hot temperatures hit."

Extensive surveys were carried out at the Knaresborough site.

This included stripping the old paint, surface treatment, re-coating, and checks on the drainage systems.

A similar refurbishment was completed at the Borrage Green paddling pool in Ripon, which reopened last week.

The Valley Gardens pool in Harrogate reopened last month following full repainting and a survey of the drainage system.
