North Yorkshire youth group is preparing to turn a town's high street into a colourful celebration of inclusion, as young people with special educational needs and disabilities gear up for their own Pride event.

Flying High, a youth-led advocacy group based in North Yorkshire, is organising the SEND Pride celebration in Northallerton on Saturday, July 25, with an afternoon of activities designed for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Robert Mooney, chairman of Flying High, said: "We are incredibly proud to host an event that celebrates the voices and vibrant presence of SEND young people in our community.

"We invite everyone to wear their brightest colours, march with us, and help make this a truly unforgettable day."

The event will begin with a colourful Pride walk starting outside Argos on Northallerton High Street, where attendees are encouraged to wear bright clothing to show their support.

The group will then walk together to the Methodist Church hall for an afternoon of inclusive activities.

Inside the church hall, the celebration will continue with a circus skills workshop, interactive stalls, and a community hub featuring information from local organisations.

Flying High is inviting charities, businesses, and service providers to take part by hosting a stall and offering engaging activities for families.

Flying High describes itself as a youth advocacy group empowering SEND young people.

Its members use their collective voice to promote inclusivity, accessibility, and positive change across North Yorkshire.

Families, friends, and allies are all welcome.
