A popular North Yorkshire shooting ground is set for a major upgrade with a new investment programme designed to improve facilities for everyone from members to corporate guests.

Thimbleby Shooting Ground, near Northallerton, has announced the plans following sustained growth in membership and competitive events over the past five years.

Work is due to begin on August 10, and marks the next major phase of development since the site's expansion in 2021.

Luke Butler, commercial director at Thimbleby, said: "This investment represents an exciting new chapter for Thimbleby Shooting Ground.

"Over the past few years we've seen incredible growth in both our membership and the number of visitors choosing to shoot with us, so it's important that our facilities continue to evolve alongside that demand.

"The improvements we're making aren't just about expanding our buildings, they're about enhancing every aspect of the customer experience, from the Gunroom and café through to coaching, corporate hospitality and the service our team delivers every day.

"By investing now, we're ensuring Thimbleby remains at the forefront of the industry and continues to offer one of the finest shooting experiences in the UK for many years to come."

The redevelopment will include a larger gunroom, a significantly expanded kitchen, and a refreshed food offering.

It will also introduce the purpose-built Thimbleby Shooting Academy (TSA), alongside improved staff facilities and dedicated office space.

The kitchen expansion will enable the team to offer a broader menu of homemade dishes, featuring produce from the Thimbleby Estate.

Visitors will soon be able to enjoy the shooting ground’s popular breakfasts throughout the day.

A key part of the investment is the launch of the TSA, a new training and education facility designed to support coaching and tuition.

The space will also serve as a flexible venue for corporate hospitality and private group bookings.

Behind the scenes, staff will benefit from newly renovated offices, meeting rooms, and welfare facilities.

These improvements are designed to support continued growth and maintain high standards of service.

Thimbleby will remain open to visitors throughout the development period.

Although there may be some temporary changes, such as a revised gunroom layout, a reduced café menu, and external works, shooting lessons, competitions, retail services and clay shooting experiences will continue as normal.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption during the works.
