A County Durham shopping outlet is promising a summer of free family fun, dog-friendly events and seasonal shopping throughout August.

Dalton Park is launching a bumper calendar of activities, with highlights including its new Camp Dalton experience, the return of the popular Strut Your Pup dog day, and a lively summer artisan market.

Richard Kaye, centre manager at Dalton Park, said: "We're so excited to be launching Camp Dalton for the very first time this summer.

"We wanted to create something that gives families even more reasons to visit during the school holidays – somewhere children can get creative, embrace the outdoors and make lasting memories, while parents and grandparents can enjoy spending quality time together.

"Every visit to Camp Dalton will offer something different, from nature-inspired activities and crafts to exciting challenges and immersive experiences, so there's always a reason to come back.

"Alongside favourites like Strut Your Pup and our Summer Artisan Market, there's plenty happening across the centre to keep the whole family entertained throughout the summer."

Camp Dalton will run every weekend in August from 11am to 4pm and is a new immersive summer camp experience designed for families.

Children will take part in themed outdoor activities led by Camp Counsellor Cathy, including crafts, scavenger hunts, archery and team challenges, with each session offering a new adventure.

Participants earn a Camp Dalton badge for each activity completed, and those who collect the full set will receive a special prize.

The camp sessions are free, with advance booking available through Dalton Park's website.

Events include campfire stories on August 1, a nature-themed day on August 2, a badge-making workshop on August 8, and archery on August 29.

Additionally, dog lovers are invited to Strut Your Pup on Sunday, July 19.

The event features scenic walks through Dalton Park’s 55-acre parkland, free puppuccinos, complimentary dog bandanas, a dog-friendly photo spot, an agility course and a mini market of pet treats.

For shoppers and craft enthusiasts, Dalton Park’s Summer Artisan Market returns on August 15 and 16, featuring more than 40 independent traders offering handmade gifts, food, jewellery, seasonal flowers, and crafts.

The market will also include live music.

Dalton Park encourages visitors to join in the seasonal events, whether for a fun day out with the family, a stroll with a furry friend or supporting local makers and businesses.
