A 15-acre maze has been cut into the likeness of Sir David Attenborough to mark the beloved broadcaster's 100th birthday – and it opens to the public this Saturday.
York Maze has revealed its design for 2026: an aerial image showing Sir David's face alongside an elephant, a tiger, and a gorilla, carved into a field of fully grown maize plants.
The attraction announced this year's theme on Sir David's actual birthday in May, with more than a million maize seeds planted across the 15-acre field, opening to the public on Saturday, July 11.
The image was cut once the plants began to emerge, with the finished design revealed in full as the crop reached full height ahead of this weekend's opening.
Farmer Tom Pearcy, owner of York Maze, said: "Each year we choose a topical theme for the maze design.

The maze – officially titled the Sir David Attenborough 100 Years on Planet Earth Maze – opens on Saturday, July 11, and will remain open to visitors until September 3, after which the crop will be harvested.
Previous designs at York Maze have included Toy Story, Tutankhamun, a Lego minifigure, The Lion King, Star Wars, and Doctor Who.
