Police are hunting for two people who fled the scene after a late-night crash in County Durham.
Officers were called to the A177 near Sedgefield at about 11.30pm on Saturday, July 4, following a collision involving two cars.
A driver of a Toyota Corolla was taken to hospital for treatment, while the occupants of the second vehicle, an Audi A4 are believed to have run off.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) Newcastle were deployed to the area to assist with the search following the crash.
They flew for about 19 minutes before returning to base.
The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and an investigation has now been launched.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called at about 11.30pm on Saturday, July 4, following a collision involving two cars on the A177 near Sedgefield.
"The driver of a Toyota Corolla was taken to hospital for treatment.
"The driver and passenger of an Audi A4 are believed to have fled the scene of the incident.
"The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered.
"An investigation is ongoing.
"Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting incident reference 601 of July 4."

A NPAS spokesperson said: "At 2350hrs on Saturday. July 4, 2026, a police helicopter crew from NPAS Newcastle was deployed to Ferryhill to assist Durham Constabulary in a search following a road traffic incident.
"Total flying time on the task was 19 minutes.
"The Durham Constabulary log number is 601 of 04/06/2026."
