Former Feet First cobblers in Yarm now 'under offer'

Feet First of Yarm hit the rental market earlier this year as the shop, which had been operating for more than 30 years on the High Street, closed its doors in April.

Owner Kevin Cassidy, who had repaired shoes and cut keys on the High Street since 1995, said he felt it was the right time to move on as he took an early retirement. 

Ahead of the closure, the store was put on the rental market with a price tag of £14,000 per year, looking for a new tenant to move in. 

And now, Thomas Stevenson is listing the property as being “under offer”, meaning an offer has been made but no deal has officially been done as of yet.

The shop forms part of a three-storey building and is arranged into a ground floor sales area, staff amenities space, and a toilet at the back. 

Thomas Stevenson said it is “suitable for a variety of commercial uses subject to the necessary planning and consents”.

Feet First had two homes on the High Street during its three decade run, its first being next to The Black Bull pub in what is now The Pet Quarter.

At the time of the closure, Kevin said: “We are closing because the lease is up on the shop - we have been debating for more than a year what to do, and we feel that the time is right for us. 

“We have enjoyed our time working in a lovely town with a great community feel, and a lot of our customers have become friends. 

“We’d like to thank all our customers for all the support over the last 30 years.”
