Durham County Council has issued decisions on several planning applications across the area.

The approved projects include security upgrades, community structures, and new commercial uses.

Here are five planning decisions you might have missed this week (June 29 - July 3):

Security upgrades at Durham Castle

Approval has been granted for new metal gates and railings at Durham Castle.

The additions will be installed within existing openings in the castle’s terrace wall as part of a wider effort to enhance security at the historic site.

Cross approved for Lanchester church

Permission has been granted for a new timber cross at All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Lanchester.

Standing 2.44 metres tall, the cross will be installed in the church courtyard.

Former pub in Bishop Auckland to become shop and restaurant

Plans have been approved to convert the ground floor and basement of the former Wheatsheaf Inn in St Helen Auckland.

The property on Manor Road will be redeveloped into two commercial units, including a convenience store and a restaurant.

House refused in Horden

An application to convert part of Oswald Buildings on Eden Street into a two-storey dwelling has been refused.

School of Dance to expand

A first-floor extension has been approved for the School of Dance on Louvaine Terrace in Ferryhill.

The extension will be built above the existing building.
