Pineapple on pizza might still split opinion, but Pizza Hut is leaning into the debate and having some fun with it.
The chain has launched a Hawaiian‑themed summer offer: from June 29, customers who dine in wearing a Hawaiian shirt can get a Hawaiian pizza for £5 at selected restaurants.
To qualify, you just need to turn up in a Hawaiian shirt order the Hawaiian.
Jana Ulaite, Chief Marketing Officer at Pizza Hut UK, said: “Pineapple on pizza has always divided opinion, but Pizza Hut is definitely backing the fans. If you’re bold enough to wear the shirt, you’re bold enough to order the pizza.”
Staff at participating restaurants will also be in Hawaiian shirts, and customers taking up the offer get cocktail umbrellas with their bottomless drinks to ramp up the tropical feel.
In the North East, the promotion includes Pizza Hut sites in Gateshead, Teesside Park and Newcastle, although customers are being urged to check with their local branch first so they don’t end up dressed for the beach at the wrong store.

Pizza Hut says the campaign is a celebration of “rebels” who happily back pineapple on pizza, encouraging people to enjoy the classic Hawaiian with a bit of fun and community spirit.
With summer underway, the chain hopes the £5 offer will bring a taste of the tropics – and a slice of nostalgia – to tables across the region.
The deal runs all day, every day until July 12, and is available to dine‑in customers only.
