A North Yorkshire beauty salon is celebrating after being crowned winner of a prestigious national award.
Saks Guisborough has been named ‘Saks Ultimate Beauty Salon 2026’, beating competition from teams across the country.
Owner Debbie Passman, who has just celebrated her 50th birthday, has led the Saks beauty franchise on Bow Street since 2001.
She said the win felt like the result of “years of hard work” from the very small but dedicated team.
Debbie said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won Ultimate Beauty Salon.
“It is an incredible achievement, and it really does mean the world to us. There are just the two of us in the beauty team, myself and Emma, and she has been here for almost twenty-two years. So this is very much down to both of us and the way we look after our clients."
The award recognises the salon’s expert treatments, strong client relationships and the way the business is run day to day.
She added: “Our mantra has always been transforming how someone looks and feels. It is not just about the treatment they have, it is about how they feel when they walk back out of the door. People come in with a million things on their to do lists.
“If they can switch off for an hour and leave feeling more confident and more energised, then we have done our job. The salon should be that little bit of an escape.”
The awards are held every year to celebrate the hard work across the brand’s national network of hair and beauty salons.
Debbie said: “Normally we would be on a stage collecting an award and dancing the night away.
“This time head office announced the winners online and then about half an hour later this huge package arrived. Inside was a magnum of fizz and our trophy so we could celebrate properly with our clients.”
Since winning the award, she said the response from her clients has been “amazing”.
She said: “The response has been amazing. Our social media has been full of lovely comments, we have had cards handed in. It really felt like we were celebrating with them, not just on our own.”
“There’s just two of us working here, so for the national team to look at what we do and say you are our Ultimate Beauty Salon this year is just incredible.”
After the win, Debbie said she is already looking ahead to the next chapter for the salon.

She said: “We would love to grow the team and bring in another therapist.
“With the experience Emma and I have in the industry it would be an amazing opportunity for someone new to come on board and help us take the salon to the next level.”
