Residents to have their say on Teesside transport plans

The Tees Valley Combined Authority has launched public consultations on four sets of proposals aimed at improving travel links and road safety across the region.

The consultations, which will gather public feedback, offer residents the opportunity to influence final decisions.

People can voice their opinions online or attend one of the in-person events.

In the first proposal, improvements in Marske are set to focus on walking, wheeling, and bus stop areas around Marske Square, following recent public space enhancements, now aiming to make the roundabout and its surroundings safer and more accessible.

Residents can share their thoughts at Marske Leisure Centre on Saturday, July 4, from 10.00am to 2.30pm.

The Middlesbrough to Redcar route proposal aims to provide more travel options, through three phases that will see improved access to bus stops, safer cycling routes, and upgraded crossings.

These changes will allow for better education, work, and training opportunities in the Middlesbrough area.

Public meetings for these plans will be held at Redcar Community Fire Station on Tuesday, July 7, and  Eston Leisure Centre on Wednesday, July 8, from 1.30pm to 6.30pm.

For Saltburn, the priority is easing congestion caused by increased numbers of tourists, particularly around the seafront, promenade and railway station.

This proposal includes new pedestrian crossings, improved bus stop access, and an easier path for pedestrian visitors walking down to the sea front.

Residents consultations will be held at Saltburn Community and Arts Association on Thursday, July 9, from 1.30pm to 6pm.

The final set of proposals concerns the Nunthorpe to Guisborough active travel route.

This scheme aims to create a continuous active travel route, linking the two communities and improving access to Nunthorpe Railway Station.

The Nunthorpe to Guisborough meeting will be on Tuesday, July 14, from 1.30pm to 6.30pm at Nunthorpe and Marton Racquet Club.

Together, these consultations form part of a wider £310m funding package for regional transport, aimed at improving bus services and active travel routes across the Tees Valley.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority stresses that public feedback will be vital in shaping the final plans for these proposals, and ensuring they are effective for local communities.
