Paul Cave Prize opens to County Durham writers and poets

Writers and poets from County Durham have until September 30 to enter The Paul Cave Prize for Literature 2026.

The prize celebrates the English language, with entries from around the world already being submitted.

Poetry, flash fiction, short stories, novelettes, and novellas can be entered.

The prize was established in 2023 in memory of Paul Astley Cave-Browne-Cave.

The publisher founded Hampshire the county magazine in 1960, running it for more than 40 years.

Other than cash prizes and book features, winners' work will be read by a professional editor.
