A rugby club is set to get a modern upgrade after plans for a rear extension were given the green light.
Hartlepool Rugby Club, commonly known as the Old Boys, has been based at Mayfield Park on Easington Road since 1970, when the club moved to its current headquarters after purchasing the site in 1968.
The approved scheme at Hartlepool Rugby Club’s Mayfield Park will deliver a "new, modern, and fully equipped kitchen" through a single-storey extension to the existing clubhouse.
The proposals, submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council, also include a serving hatch.
A planning statement said: "The principal aim of the project is to provide a new, modern, and fully equipped kitchen facility to serve the growing needs of the club and its members."
The statement described the scheme as "modest but functionally significant development that contributes directly to the operational capacity and community offer of the site."
The venue describes itself as one of the better-equipped rugby club facilities in the North East.
