Walker rescued by rescue crews at Roseberry Topping

The person had fallen on the eastern side of the hill at 2.25pm on Sunday (June 14) when mountain rescue teams were called in.

They were treated by a medic and loaded onto a stretcher which had to be lowered down the hill using ropes due to the steep slope.

The patient was then carried down the hillside and transferred into a waiting Land Rover before being taken back to Aireyholme Farm, where family members were waiting to take them for further treatment.

A spokesperson for the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team said: “Due to the steep location on the east side of Roseberry, a back-up rope was used for the initial lower of the stretcher to the path.

“The casualty was treated by a Remote Rescue Medical Technician.

“The stretcher was then transferred over the fence and sledged down the field to a waiting Land Rover.

“We wish the person a full and quick recovery.

“Thanks as always, to the Phalp family for parking and access via Aireyholme Farm.”

In total, 22 team members were involved in the rescue, which lasted around two hours.
