The Swaledale Festival was drawn to a "vibrant" close after more than a fortnight of music, performance and community events.
Centred across the northern Dales, the 2026 festival saw 100 events unfold over 57 venues during its 15-day programme, creating a "remarkable atmosphere" throughout the region.

7,000 tickets were sold for this year’s programme, which included 75 public performances, outdoor events, workshops, and community events.
Hundreds took part in walks, while thousands more enjoyed free exhibitions and pop-up music in unexpected places.
The festival brought together 452 artists, supported by 96 volunteers along with a dedicated staff and crew.
Seventeen premieres and commissions were featured.
The programme also included partnerships with schools, community groups, sponsors and local venues that broadened the Festival’s reach across the region.
The Four Seasons Poetry Call saw 85 poets contribute seasons-inspired poems, which were published in an anthology and shared from the stage throughout the Festival.
Audience and artist feedback reflected the remarkable atmosphere that characterised this year’s Festival.
One school described the student opportunities as "priceless."

Above all, the 2026 Festival demonstrated the power of culture to bring communities together: connecting people to place, creating memorable experiences, inspiring new collaborations, and leaving the dales buzzing with conversation and creativity.
The 2027 Swaledale Festival will take place from May 29 to June 12.
