Teenager in serious condition after crash in Stockton

A child is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash between a car and an electric scooter.

Emergency services were called to Redhill Road in Stockton at around 4.25pm on Sunday (May 17), after a two-vehicle crash.

The teenager was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment, in what police have described as a serious condition.

Redhill Road was closed during the incident and for several hours after, due to collision investigation works to take place.

It has since reopened to drivers.

Cleveland Police said: "At 4.25pm on Sunday, May 17, police were called to Redhill Road in Stockton following reports of a collision involving a car and a child who was riding an electric scooter.

"The child was taken to hospital by air ambulance in a serious condition.

"A road closure was put in place and has since reopened.

"Anyone who has information can call Cleveland Police on 101 or visit the website quoting reference number 093616."

The driver of the car was also taken to hospital by road ambulance.

North East Ambulance Service dispatched three ambulance crews, the air ambulance and a clinical team leader to the scene.

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.23pm today (17 May) to a road traffic collision between a car and a teenager on Redhill Road in Stockton.

"We dispatched three ambulance crews, the air ambulance and a clinical team leader.

"The teenager was taken to RVI in Newcastle by the air ambulance and the driver of the car was taken to hospital by road."
