A world-renowned clarinettist is set to join one of the North East’s leading orchestras for a night of Mozart at Darlington Hippodrome.
Julian Bliss will perform with the Royal Northern Sinfonia on Thursday, June 4, as part of a programme celebrating the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The evening will be conducted by Izabelė Jankauskaitė and will feature some of Mozart’s most popular compositions.
A spokesperson for Royal Northern Sinfonia said: "Julian Bliss brings his internationally acclaimed artistry to this iconic work."
Bliss will perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, a piece famed for its lyrical beauty and unforgettable Adagio.
The programme also includes Mozart’s first and last symphonies, composed 16 years apart.
Symphony No. 1 was written when Mozart was just eight years old, while Symphony No. 41, known as the ‘Jupiter,’ stands as a testament to his mature genius.
The concert will begin with Grażyna Bacewicz’s Sinfonietta, a vibrant piece that showcases the orchestra’s string section.
Bliss is internationally celebrated for his "expressive and technical command" of the instrument.
