A man has been arrested after a late-night incident in Spennymoor.

Emergency services were called to Spennymoor High Street on Sunday (May 10) following an incident at around 10.15pm.

An image taken from the scene shows a police car blocking access to the road while flashing blue lights can be seen in the distance.

While the exact nature of the incident remains unconfirmed at this time, Durham Police said a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

A brief statement from police said: "We attended Spennymoor High Street at around 10.15pm and arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of affray.

"He remains in custody today."
