A traditional North Yorkshire pub that appears in one of the UK’s most popular TV shows is drawing attention from fans eager to step into a familiar on-screen setting.
In All Creatures Great and Small, the Drovers Arms is the central point of Darrowby, a place where characters gather to share stories, celebrate, and unwind after long days in the Dales.
But while it appears as one cosy, well-loved local on screen, the Drovers Arms is actually brought to life by two real pubs in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Devonshire in Grassington provides the exterior of the fictional pub, its stone façade and traditional features instantly recognisable to viewers.
Set in the village’s cobbled market square, the 18th-century inn has become closely linked with the show since filming began in 2019.
During production, the area is transformed into 1930s Darrowby, complete with vintage cars, period shopfronts, and costumed extras.
The pub’s owners previously described their involvement as “a fascinating adventure,” recalling how they agreed to filming before realising just how popular the series would become.
Today, visitors regularly stop by to take photos outside the now-famous frontage or enjoy a drink in the surroundings that have become synonymous with the show.
However, step inside the Drovers Arms on screen, and the setting shifts to another historic pub entirely.
The Green Dragon Inn in Hardraw, near Hawes, provides the interior scenes, with its low wooden beams, flagstone floors, and roaring fires creating the warm, lived-in atmosphere viewers know so well.
Dating back to the 13th century, the Green Dragon brings an added authenticity, with much of its historic character still intact.
Its traditional interior makes it a natural fit for the role of Darrowby’s welcoming village hub.

Just beyond the pub lies Hardraw Force, England’s highest single-drop waterfall, which has also featured in the series and attracts visitors in its own right.
Together, the two pubs combine to create the complete illusion of the Drovers Arms, one providing the familiar exterior seen in nearly every episode, the other delivering the cosy interior where much of the show’s charm unfolds.
Both locations have seen a boost in tourism, with fans travelling to the Yorkshire Dales to experience the setting for themselves.
