A shopping centre has launched a new scheme to support those in need of essential sanitary products.
Outlet shop Dalton Park is taking action against period poverty with its new 'Package for Milly' scheme, marking a significant step forward in widening access to essential menstrual products in the North East.
Visitors can request "a package for Milly" from any member of the Dalton Park team to receive a free, discreet bag of essential menstrual products, no questions asked.
Centre manager Richard Kaye said: "This is about creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all our visitors, ensuring that we are equipped with necessary resources, so guests can feel assured.
"Launching ahead of Period Poverty Awareness Week makes this even more meaningful, as it allows us to play a small but important role in raising awareness and supporting those who need it most."
The scheme, named in honour of women's suffragette campaigner Millicent Fawcett, was first launched in 2025 on International Women’s Day.

The initiative aims to tackle period poverty, a widespread issue across the UK.
Figures from ActionAid UK suggest that one in 10 girls in the UK cannot afford menstrual products, while nearly one in five resort to unsuitable alternatives due to cost.
'Package for Milly' joins similar schemes across the country as part of a growing movement to make period products more accessible in public spaces.
