A Newton Aycliffe shower designer and manufacturer, is celebrating the retirement of its chief operations officer after 25 years of service.
John Wright, who joined Roman when its new factory first opened, retired on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of operational excellence and industry innovation.
David Osborne, chief executive officer at Roman, said: "John has made an immense contribution to our sustained and transformational growth during his tenure.
"He is also a close personal friend to all of the board and we look forward to seeing him socially in his new relaxed mode.
"We all wish him an extremely happy and healthy retirement."
During his time with the company, Mr Wright played a key role in introducing flowline production to the showering industry, raising standards in efficiency, consistency and product quality.
His passion for aviation was well known among colleagues, and as a retirement gift, the company arranged for him to fly in a classic Tiger Moth aircraft.
Mr Wright also met his wife, Julie, at Roman. She continues to work in the company’s purchasing team.
Although he may return to assist with special projects, this marks the start of his official retirement.
