Kiplin Hall named best tourist location at Richmond awards

A historic North Yorkshire stately home has won a tourism award after welcoming more than 40,000 visitors in 2025.

Kiplin Hall and Gardens near Richmond was named Tourism Award winner at the Richmond Business Awards, after a year that marked its 400th anniversary.

James Etherington, director of Kiplin Hall, said: "After a record-breaking anniversary year, winning this award is the icing on the cake.

"Our staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to welcome more tourists to Kiplin Hall and the wider area.

"Our visitors share their enthusiasm for Kiplin and the region.

"Being shortlist alongside the other wonderful attractions really brings home what a great offer the area has for tourists, and locals for that matter.

"We look forward to growing and sharing Kiplin with more people in the future."

Reopening in February this year as the snowdrops bloomed the season has gotten off to a great start.

In 2025, more than 40,000 visitors passed through its gates, many enjoying its visitor centre and café.

The garden’s seasonal highlights currently include flourishing tulips and blossom, with a laburnum arch expected to bloom in May.

Kiplin Hall is open six days a week and closed on Thursdays.

Earlier in April, Kiplin Hall received a commendation in the Hospitality and Retail category at the Richmond Business Awards.

The awards were held on April 17 at The Station in Richmond.
