Is there anything more British than a Sunday roast afternoon tea by the seaside?

A North Yorkshire hotel has been praised by customers for creating the “most amazing” twist on the foodie staple.

Park Manor Hotel in Scarborough, situated close to North Bay Beach in the popular coastal town, offers an afternoon tea that swaps the finger sandwiches for Yorkshire pudding wraps, bursting with all the usual trimmings (think roasties and onion gravy).

Some visitors were left so impressed after tucking into this “gorgeous” comforting feast, that they declared they “definitely be returning”.

Sunday roast afternoon tea in North Yorkshire coastal hotel is the ‘most amazing’

So, what exactly does a Sunday roast afternoon tea (£19.50 pp) include at Park Manor Hotel?

Customers can expect to indulge in:

  • Three mini starters - prawn cocktail, melon selection with sorbet and a cup of tomato and basil soup
  • Two Yorkshire pudding wraps - turkey with stuffing and roast sirloin of beef served with roast potatoes, sausage wrapped in bacon and onion gravy
  • Three mini desserts - meringue nest, chocolate bomb and a slice of trifle
  • Tea or coffee

The unique Sunday roast afternoon teas are available every Sunday from 12pm until 3.30pm.

In a review on Tripadvisor, this person revealed: “Had the most amazing 'Sunday roast' afternoon tea at Park manor hotel, it was amazing!

“Trio of starters each - soup/prawn cocktail & melon trio.

“Main - beef & chicken & stuffing Yorkshire pudding wraps with sausage & bacon & roasts & gravy

“Dessert - trio of delicious cakes.

“Absolutely wonderful staff, definitely returning.”

Another commented: “Lovely hotel, friendly staff, clean, great food, parking and amenities.

However, if you’re in the mood for something a little more classic, of course, the coastal hotel offers traditional afternoon teas too (£17 pp) that are said to be “hands down the best of the best”.

The regular afternoon teas include a “delightful” spread of savoury sandwiches, prawn cocktail taster, individual cake selection, fruit panna cotta, profiterole, shortbread square and fruit scone with jam and cream (plus plenty of tea and coffee refills).

"All I can say is utter perfection.

“The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and attentive.

“We will be returning and recommending this place to everyone we speak to. Thank you Park Manor.”
