A North East brewery has created a special new fundraising beer to support fishermen and their families.

Tyneside-based Anarchy Brewery has teamed up with photographer Pete Robinson to create the special fundraising beer, titled Harvest From The Deep.

The beer, named after Mr Robinson’s photographic book documenting the lives of North Shields fishermen, will raise funds for The Fishermen’s Mission in North Shields, with 15p donated from every pint sold.

Phil Beaty, manager at Anarchy Brewery, said: "Pete’s book was very much the inspiration behind our new Harvest From The Deep beer, and its cover photo decorates the label on our cans."

The collaboration began when the brewery was asked to design beer labels for the launch of Mr Robinson’s book, which tells the story of North Shields’ fishing industry over the past decade and marks the town’s 800th anniversary.

The Fishermen’s Mission is the UK’s only national charity dedicated to supporting active and former fishermen and their families, offering wellbeing, financial, and pastoral care for those facing hardship, loss, or crisis.

Peter Dade, area manager for the North East at The Fishermen’s Mission, welcomed the launch.

Mr Dade said: "We’re absolutely delighted to be part of this collaboration with Anarchy Brewery and Eye of the Tyne Photography.

"Projects like this show the strength of community spirit here in North Shields and the wider North East fishing community.

"Every pint sold will help The Fishermen's Mission continue providing practical, financial, and emotional support to local fishermen and their families.

"It’s a wonderful way to celebrate our fishing heritage while giving something meaningful back to those who work at sea."

Mr Robinson, who partnered with the brewery on the project, said the beer was about more than just a drink.

Mr Robinson said: "Behind every boat that leaves the Fish Quay is a family, a story and a risk, and when the worst happens, The Fishermen’s Mission is there.

"Their work matters here more than most, because in North Shields, the sea doesn’t just provide, it defines lives."

Anarchy Brewery has announced that Harvest From The Deep will officially launch on Friday, May 1, with a coordinated 'collective pour' at 5pm across the region.

Mr Beaty said: "We’re inviting pubs across North Shields to come together in support of Pete Robinson and raise a glass for The Fishermen’s Mission, backing the people who harvest our seas."

The 4.3 per cent pale ale will be available in cask, cans, and on draught, and can also be purchased online at anarchybrewco.com.
