A well-known TV star was spotted at a café in Seaham today, calling in for a coffee and a scone.

Tom Wilson, known for his appearances on Celebs Go Dating and more recently I’m a Celebrity in 2025, was seen at The Lamp Room this afternoon (April 11), picking up a bite to eat.

Kate Bruns, general manager at County Durham café , said his visit “brightened up her day”.

She said: “He called in briefly while passing through and had a coffee and a scone.

“He was absolutely lovely, as were his guests. He brightened our day as we are all big Tom fans.”

Kate added that the TV star chatted with staff about the surrounding North East area and kindly posed for a photo.

She said: “We chatted about sea glass and the surrounding area. He was warm, chatty and even let us grab a photo.

“He was such a charming fellow and brought smiles to our faces today.”

The Lamp Room offers customers everything from coffee to tapas and seafood, and is a popular venue for locals.

Last year, the café bagged nearly 700 ‘excellent’ ratings on Tripadvisor site, the highest score available.

The venue has been praised by customers for its welcoming atmosphere and reasonable prices.

One reviewer said: "Went here recently after wanting to go for ages and it didn’t disappoint.

"I had a selection from the tapas menu and the Korean pork ribs were to die for. The Spanish tortilla was one of the nicest I’ve had outside of Spain.

“The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble even though it was busy. Can’t wait to return."

You can find the café at 20 North Terrace, Seaham, SR7 7EU.
