The Quebec Tearoom in County Durham closes its doors

The Quebec Tearoom, on Front Street in Quebec was known for its historic charm and home-made food.

However, the tearoom took to social media last weekend (March 29), to announce its sudden closure.

In a Facebook post, the owners said: “Our time at the tearoom has come to an end.

“We will miss you all.

“Thank you to our wonderful customers and loyal team.”

No reason has been given yet for the closure, but the owners thanked their longstanding customers for the support they have received over the years.

Since the announcement, dozens of people have shared their support online.

One person wrote: “Thank you all for everything - friendships, kindness, great food and support from family to family. This is not goodbye.”

Another added: “So sorry to see this. We’ve always had gorgeous food there, and it’s one of the only places my grandma asks to go for a meal!"

One customer said the closure came as a “shock”.

They said: “Absolute shock! Loved the place and the lovely people there. Wishing you well for the future!

“Good luck with whatever’s next.”

The Quebec Tearoom held a 4.1-star rating on TripAdvisor, with reviews praising its “delicious food” and “friendly staff.”

One customer described it as “a wonderful atmosphere, elegant tearoom, friendly staff and delicious food… a real treat and highly recommended.”
