A County Durham tea room which is a celebrity hotspot has been branded a 'gem' by customers who have been wowed by its offerings.
The Quarry Tea House in Hunwick has garnered a positive reputation on TripAdvisor.
It includes a tea house, deli counter and shop selling 'gorgeous gifts'.
On Sunday, March 22, it received the 'Best Café in County Durham' gong at a ceremony held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead for the England Business Awards.
Celebrity hotspot
Owner Julie Bell said serving well-known TV faces has become a “regular occurrence” for her business.
She said: “It’s bizarre really, but it keeps happening.
“We’ve had Zoe Ball come in before and Scarlett Moffatt visits quite often. It’s really good for the business and really lovely for the team.”
'Gem'
With 132 'excellent' reviews - the highest rating that can be given by a reviewer - Quarry Tea House has picked up praise online.
One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: "What a gem! Some of our friends took us there for brunch. Food was great, service was friendly and attentive.
"As a bit of a bonus, we bought some amazing cakes and pies from the deli counter on the way out."
Another satisfied customer said: "Lovely café, beautifully decorated, great menu with so much to choose from as well as great cake selection which you can buy to take home as well as eat in.

"Staff were very friendly and helpful and there is also a little shop which sells some gorgeous gifts. Would definitely recommend."
While another contributor said: "Absolutely loved our return to this tea room and once again it didn’t disappoint, the food was fantastic.
