Poundland will close its store at the Arnison Centre in Durham for good this week.
Closure notices have appeared in the store, which is set to close on Wednesday (March 18).
The news has been met with disappointment from customers, with one commenting: "Gutted that the store is closing down," while another said: "Gonna miss you guys."
The almost 8,000 sq ft store opened in December 2021 with a home and clothing section and frozen food aisles.
In January, the company confirmed it had completed a major restructuring programme involving the closure of nearly 150 stores and the loss of 2,200 jobs.
This brought its total store count down to 651 from around 800.

The retailer said in a recent update: "Any future closures will be a consequence of standard business-as-usual lease events expected at a retailer with a large store network."
The restructure also included the closure of two warehouses, in Darton, South Yorkshire, and Springvale in Bilston, West Midlands, along with changes to its customer service centre in Walsall.
Although like-for-like sales fell by 2.9 per cent in the quarter to December 28, volume growth of two per cent was recorded after Poundland lowered prices to reinforce its value-focused offering.
