Plans to expand a Darlington town centre bar have been approved.
Darlington Borough Council has given the green light for The Cherry Tree Cocktail Bar on Blackwellgate to extend its premises by converting a first-floor flat into additional dining space.
A new internal staircase will be added to the building, creating a quieter dining area upstairs for the bar - which opened in November 2024.
This move is the third stage in the bar's expansion plan, following earlier proposals to create an outside dining area and cover part of the rear beer garden under another application.
Front windows on both the ground and first floors will be replaced with timber-framed bi-fold windows.
This will be accompanied by Juliet balcony balustrades for the first-floor windows, alongside new timber entrance doors.

Existing timber mouldings, fascia boards, and the building's upper-storey façade will be finished in charcoal grey, replacing the dark-blue render that has started to peel and crack.
Planning officers have supported the work, saying they “would not harm the general appearance of the building”.
Darlington Borough Council approved the plan on March 11.
