A Jet2 flight from Newcastle to Cyprus took off as planned this morning (March 4), just days after a drone strike on an RAF base on the island.
Flight LS515 to Paphos departed Newcastle Airport at 9.25am, operating as normal despite the drone impact at RAF Akrotiri.
A Jet2 spokesperson said previously: “We always follow the travel advice of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and their current guidance shows that there are no travel restrictions in place to Cyprus.
“As such, our flights and holidays are operating as normal, and are subject to the usual terms and conditions.
“We will of course continue to monitor the situation closely.”
RAF Akrotiri was struck just hours after the Prime Minister authorised the US to launch military action against Iran from British bases.
Officials said RAF Akrotiri, in the British overseas territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, was continuing to operate as normal despite the attack, but family members of personnel had been moved away from the base as a precaution.

The Foreign Office (FCDO) said: “British nationals should take sensible precautions, considering their own individual circumstances” and warned of possible travel disruption amid heightened regional tensions.
It is not yet known whether the drone was launched directly from Iran or from Tehran‑backed groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Damage to the base was described as “minimal” and no injuries were reported.
