Probe continues into 'targeted attack' at Newton Hall home

Officers were called to reports that shots had been fired at a property on Featherstone Road in Newton Hall, Durham, at about 9.40am on February 6.

Pictures taken at the scene show damage to a window at the home, where bullets appeared to have struck the glass as enquiries got under way.

Two residents inside the house at the time were uninjured and have since been safeguarded.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Fuller, who is leading the investigation, previously said: “We understand that this incident will have caused a great deal of concern and alarm in the local community.

“From our enquiries conducted so far, we believe this was a targeted attack. There will be increased neighbourhood policing patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to please report it, either directly to the police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.

“We’d also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the Featherstone Drive area at the time of the incident.”

In a further update, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Fuller, of Durham Police, said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation while we work to establish exactly what has happened.

“Our investigation is ongoing, and we are following several lines of enquiry. We continue to believe that this was a targeted attack.

“If you haven’t already done so, I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to please report it, either directly to the police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.”
