A man in his 30s was taken to hospital following an incident near Teesside Airport this afternoon.

Police were called to an area of land near Teesside Airport at around 2pm on Monday (March 2), following reports of concern for the man's welfare.

A spokesperson from Durham Police said: “Shortly before 2pm today, police attended a concern for welfare call to a man located on land, near Teesside Airport.

“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.”

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident at Teesside Airport shortly after 4.30pm on March, 2.

"We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a duty officer and were supported by Great North Air Ambulance's medical car. One patient was taken to James Cook Hospital."
