Roads and paths are set to close to facilitate Radio1's Big Weekend in Sunderland's Herrington Country Park, according to a public notice. 

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) in order to facilitate the event, held from May 22 to 24.

The order will prohibit all vehicular, pedestrian, equestrian and cycle traffic along, and prohibit all vehicles from waiting and loading or unloading at any time along, the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1.

And it will prohibit all pedestrian, equestrian and cycle traffic along, the footpaths, bridleways and public rights of way specified in Schedule 2.

The order will come into force at 06.30am on Monday March 2 and cease at 23.59pm on June 21.

Access will be restricted to all vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.

The prohibitions shall apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.

There will be exemptions in the oder for police, fire and rescue services and ambulance vehicles on emergency call and vehicles being used in connection with the event.

During the event, diversions will be signposted via the adjacent highway network where applicable.
