A violent thug grabbed his former partner by the throat and threatened to bite her nose off after dragging her back into her home.
Thomas Wadsworth was already on bail for attacking a man with a metal bar at the time of the attack on the woman, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Shaun Dryden, prosecuting, said the 26-year-old was the passenger in a car that pulled up on Coronation Street, Carlin How, when he jumped out and hit a man with the metal bar.
Mr Dryden said Wadsworth was arrested and charged following the violent incident before being released on bail.
The court heard how the defendant came into the victim’s bathroom and became highly abusive demanding that she handover her mobile phone.
He said: “She managed to get out of the house at one point but he followed her outside and pushed her back in before telling a neighbour not to get involved.
“He locked the front door and closed the curtains, effectively trapped in the house, she then described being grabbed by the throat and thrown on the sofa.
“He climbed on top of her while still holding her throat – she could not breathe and he threatened to ‘bite her ****ing nose off’.”
Mr Dryden said the defendant dragged her around the house before demanding that she take him home or he would ‘kill her’ and then stabbed her to the legs with car keys.
The court heard how the defendant sent a series of threatening messages in the days following the attack.
Wadsworth, of Whitby Close, Skelton, east Cleveland, pleaded guilty to affray on June 8, 2024.
He also pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident on November 25 last year as well as a charge of harassment between November 26 and 28 on the same victim.
Cainan Lonsdale, mitigating, said his client had been assaulted while in prison on remand and suffered a broken jaw.
“The affray was caught on CCTV, so there is very little that can be said on that offence,” he said.

“He says he can’t remember a great deal about the incident (against the woman) as he had been taking drugs and little recollection of it.”
Judge Peter Armstrong sentenced Wadsworth to two years in custody and issued him with a three-year restraining order.
He said: “This was your first time in custody and you haven’t had a good time of it, getting assaulted and having metal plates put in your jaw, you won’t want to go back after this sentence.
“You will have learned your lesson – I am sure.”
