Work at a North East retail park is 'taking shape' after developers confirmed that a fast food chain was starting its fit-out, while a vet and gym are expected to open later this year.
The owners of Wynyard Retail and Trade Park, Northumberland Estates, have revealed that they have completed leases with a mix of national and independent occupiers last year and into 2026.
So far, the retail park boasts the likes of Sainsbury’s, Starbucks, Screwfix, Howdens and JT Dove, which are now all trading.
They also confirmed that Burger King is due to begin its fit-out this month, alongside Wynyard Vets and OneGym, both of which will also be starting their fit-outs soon.
One final unit of 3,248 sq ft remains available, Northumberland Estates says.
Michael O’Driscoll, commercial property investment director, said: “Wynyard Trade and Retail Park forms an important part of our wider investment in the area, and with the majority of units now occupied and trading, the scheme is delivering a significantly enhanced range of amenities for Wynyard.
"With just one unit remaining, the park is quickly establishing itself as a key retail and trade destination.”
The first phase of the development provided 48,000 sq ft of retail space and 344 parking bays just off the A19, offering easy access to Teesside and County Durham.
Attention has already turned to Phase Two, which will add another 66,000 sq ft of retail space, a 79,000 sq ft trade park, and more than 200 additional parking spaces.

OneGym has said that after opening its Eldon Garden Newcastle site on March 7, it will start to focus on its Wynyard venue.
A OneGym spokesperson added: “We’re excited to bring flexible, affordable memberships, state-of-the-art equipment, a wide range of classes and free parking to the area, and we’re looking forward to welcoming members later this summer.”
