A popular pan-Asian restaurant is gearing up to open a second location as signs go up for its new Ingleby Barwick takeaway.

Little Lotus, which is based at Sunningdale shops in Eaglescliffe, is preparing to bring a taste of Thai to Lowfields later this year.

Owners Charlie and Sadie Eggleston announced the news late last year, saying they were “buzzing” to be bringing the business to the housing estate.

Now, as the restaurant starts teasing its new venture, signs for Little Lotus Express have gone up outside the former Tomahawk takeaway at Lowfields shops.

On Facebook, the venue said: “So Little Lotus has just got a little bit bigger. We can finally announce that we're opening our second location with a brand new concept!”

Since opening in October 2024, Little Lotus has been highly-rated online for its food, serving up everything from Pad Thai and gyozas to loaded fries and curries.

It was also highly praised when The Northern Echo tucked into a range of delicious dishes on an eating out review there last year.

Little Lotus has also recently launched its ‘Sunday curry club’, where diners can tuck into bottomless curry for £29.95 along with a range of small plates and starters.

Meanwhile, Tomahawk Steakhouse, run by Howard Eggleston, has recently achieved further success with the opening of La Terraza.

The new Spanish tapas bar, located on the first floor of Yarm's Tomahawk restaurant, currently boasts a rating of 4.9 on Tripadvisor.

Plans also remain in place for Tomahawk to open Yarm Fisheries, a new fish and chip shop in the former Greedy Ted’s takeaway.
