A bar chain has applied for a licence to open a venue at a North East shopping centre, according to a public notice.

Amber Taverns Ltd has applied to Stockton Council for permission to open a new bar, The Aviator Social, in The Pavilion Shopping Centre, Thornaby.

The proposed site is in Vale House, Unit 4a-4b, with the licence covering a range of services.

These include the sale and consumption of alcohol, recorded music, films, performances of dance, and similar activities.

The bar has requested to operate from 10am to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, extending to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

On New Year’s Eve, from the end of permitted hours New Year’s Eve to the commencement of permitted hours New Year’s Day; on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, the Thursday preceding Good Friday, the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each bank holiday weekend, St Georges Day, St Patrick’s Day, and St Valentine’s Day, The Aviator Social would gain an additional hour to serve.

Late night refreshments and live music are proposed to continue up until midnight, from Sunday to Thursday.

On Fridays and Saturdays, these services would also extend until 1am.

Opening hours have been outlined as 10am to 12.30am from Sunday to Thursday, and 10am to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Those wishing to raise objections or make representations in relation to the application have until February 23, 2026, to do so in writing to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
