A violent thug who doused a woman in paint and ammonia during a drug-fuelled attack in her own home has been locked up.
Drugged-up Lewis Adams had only met the victim on the day of the assault when he went to her home with a group of friends, Teesside Crown Court heard.
The 33-year-old kicked off when the woman asked him to leave her home in Middlesbrough in July 2025.
A judge heard how Adams used a hammer to damage walls, a knife to slash sofas and then he attacked the woman, whereby he repeatedly kicked and punched her.
He strangled her several times and doused her in paint and ammonia.
Adams damaged every room in the house and left the woman hospitalised for two weeks with significant injuries including a bleed on the brain, broken bones including nose, clavicle, sternum and ribs, internal injuries to the lung and blistering.
An anonymous call was made by a concerned member of the public who had passed by the house and seen a woman with significant injuries be dragged away from the upstairs window of a property by a man armed with a knife.
Adams, of Cringle Moor Chase, Great Broughton, near Stokesley, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm, intentional strangulation and he also pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
The defendant assaulted an officer by kicking a door into him as he tried to barricade the entrance to the house and whilst in custody he lunged towards an officer and bit him, leaving the officer in need of hospital treatment.
Following his conviction, Adams was given a 13-year sentence - comprising of ten years imprisonment and three years on extended licence.
Speaking after the hearing, PC Stephanie Usher, from Cleveland Police, said: “I am pleased with today’s sentence and hope this provides some comfort to the victim in this case, who has now bravely overcome the significant injuries caused by Adams during this attack.
“I would also like to thank the victim for her courage and continuous trust in police throughout the investigation and subsequent court process. Adams can now no longer cause harm to anyone else.”
