Mother Goose panto starting at Park View Theatre, Chester-le-Street

The curtain goes up at the Park View Theatre in Chester-le-Street, tonight (Thursday January 15), on Dryburn Theatrical Workshop's (DWT) latest January pantomime, following a "relaxed performance", dry-run last night.

Set in the fictional town of 'Feather-le-Street', it is the story of down-at-heel Mother Goose and her son, Silly Billy, whose lives are turned around by a golden spell making them "egg-straordinarily" rich, despite the best efforts of evil demon 'Foie Gras'.

Workshop chairman Lee Passmoor said its take on the traditional French fairy-tale should prove a "cracking" watch.

“Mother Goose is our eleventh pantomime written by Gateshead-born writer Tom Whalley, star of Sunderland Empire’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ pantomime," he said.

"It's a spectacular show, full of fun, fairies, feathers and fowl play, a traditional pantomime for the whole family!”

DTW has a long history of successful performances, bringing together a talented local cast, impressive productions and loyal audiences from across County Durham and the wider North East.

Show times are at 7.15pm from tonight to Saturday (January 17), with matinees at 2.30pm on Saturday and at 11am on Sunday (January 18).

Tickets are £12 for adults and £10 for children and concessions, with all admission this evening costing £10, with reductions available on block bookings.
