NEWCASTLE UNITED and Sunderland both booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round with dramatic penalty shootout victories in round three.

Newcastle played out a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth at St James' Park to set up a shootout decider.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saved three spot-kicks as Newcastle triumphed 7-6, enabling head coach Eddie Howe to celebrate victory over his former side.

Sunderland drew 1-1 with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the home side equalising in the 89th minute after referee John Brooks awarded a controversial penalty for what he deemed to be a foul by Trai Hume.

Robin Roefs saved all three of Everton's spot-kicks in the shootout, with successful efforts from Enzo Le Fee, Granit Xhaka and Luke O'Nien handing Sunderland a 3-0 win.


WHEN IS THE FA CUP FOURTH-ROUND DRAW?

The fourth round draw will take place on Monday, January 12, ahead of Liverpool's third-round tie against Barnsley, which kicks off at 7.45pm.

The draw will take place in the TV broadcast before kick-off, with the programme starting at 6.30pm and the draw set to start at around 6.35pm.


HOW CAN I WATCH THE FA CUP FOURTH-ROUND DRAW?

The FA Cup fourth-round draw will be screened live on TNT Sports 1, discovery+ and the TNT Sports YouTube channel.

WHAT NUMBERS ARE NEWCASTLE AND SUNDERLAND?

Newcastle United are ball number 24 in the fourth-round draw.

Sunderland are ball number 13 in the draw process.


WHEN WILL THE FA CUP FOURTH ROUND BE PLAYED?

The fourth round of the FA Cup will be played around the weekend of Saturday, February 14.

While the TV coverage will be confirmed after the draw has taken place, it is expected that matches will be staged from Friday to Monday over that weekend.
