Durham Police call handlers were kept busy over the festive period dealing with hundreds of calls to the force control room.
A total of 1,783 emergency calls, alone, were received by the control room workforce between Christmas Eve and December 29.
Of those 999 calls, 299 were made on Christmas Day.
The force call handlers also answered 2,269 non-emergency 101 calls during the same six-day period.

Although the force hopes the public do not need to contact them into the New Year period, it offered reassurance that if they do, there will always be someone there to help them.
Opening hours remain constant all year round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
