First-year performing arts students from a North East university have brought a pantomime version of Alice in Wonderland to life.
The cast from the University of Sunderland entertained pupils from Redby Academy and Grangetown Primary with a performance full of song, dance, and characterful fun.
Charlotte Taylor, a performing arts student who took on the role of the Knave of Hearts, said: "Taking part in our production of Alice in Wonderland has been an absolute pleasure.
"Getting to work with new people on this performance has been wonderful, especially getting to learn from our lecturers who kept the pantomime moving forward with their persistent encouragement.
"I’ve loved playing the ‘panto baddie’ and couldn’t be anymore thankful for them giving me the opportunity to do so.
"I hope everyone enjoyed our show."
Since September, students have been rehearsing and creating the production as part of their studies, with costumes, props, sets and music all designed by them.
The production also featured animated elements created in collaboration with animation academics, helping transport audiences further into Wonderland’s magical world.
Rachel Emms, artistic director of the production and programme leader for BA Performing Arts at the university, praised the students’ dedication and teamwork.

Ms Emms said: "The students only met at the end of September, so they’ve learned along the way whilst making friends and learning to collaborate professionally and have worked tirelessly on all aspects of performance.
"They have accomplished a brilliant show, and I am sure everyone will be entertained."
The pantomime was also led by musical director and academic tutor Andrew Clarence, as well as technical director and University technician Nick Thompson.
