An overnight road closure has been announced in Newton Aycliffe, half a year after the original works were completed.
Durham County Council has announced the A167 from Rushyford roundabout to St Cuthbert's Way will be closed overnight tonight (December 15) and tomorrow (December 16).
Three key junctions along the A167 were improved and opened in June, after nearly a year of works.
The upgrades took place at Rushyford roundabout, Central Avenue, and Ricknall Lane.

But today, Durham County Council confirmed there will be an overnight closure of the A167 after "routine post construction checks" found "small-scale improvements" needed to be made.
Posting on social media, the council said: "Following the successful completion of the highway works at Central Avenue, Newton Aycliffe earlier in the year, routine post construction checks have highlighted a requirement for some small-scale improvements.

"These are planned to take place. Monday (December 15) 10pm - Tuesday (December 16) 6am and Tuesday (December 16) 10pm - Wednesday (December 17) 6am.
"It will require a full closure of the A167 from Rushyford roundabout to St. Cuthbert’s Way.
"Please follow the signed diversion routes which will be in place."
