Three men have appeared in court to deny the murder of Anthony Lee Dickons last month.
The 44-year-old died after suffering serious injuries in an alleged violent disturbance on Orme Court, Middlesbrough, on November 6.
Morgan Caldwell, Dominic Hall and Daniel Simpson have all denied a charge of murder and a further charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent when they appeared at Teesside Crown Court.
A fourth accused, a teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons, is expected to appear in the New Year in connection with the alleged murder for a pre-trial preparation hearing.

Judge Francis Laird, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, remanded the three defendants in custody until their trial on April 20 next year after they denied murdering Mr Dickons.
He told the accused that their trial is expected to last between three and four weeks.
Caldwell, 26, of Cannock Road, Middlesbrough, 24-year-old Hall, of Greencroft Walk, Middlesbrough, and 31-year-old Simpson, of Coledale Road, Middlesbrough, all appeared in court via a video link from prison.
