A group of teenagers who clashed with a woman outside a County Durham pub "acted in self defence" after she tried to take one of their bikes, police have said.
The incident happened outside the Stanley Jefferson pub in Bishop Auckland at about 7pm on Tuesday (November 18).
Durham Police, who arrived on blue lights, said that after reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses and both parties, they determined that the boys had acted in self-defence after the woman tried to take one of their bikes while "under the influence".
The force confirmed the woman was taken to hospital as a precaution, while the boys were taken home.

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an altercation between four teenagers and a woman outside the Stanley Jefferson pub in Bishop Auckland, at around 7pm on November 18.
“Officers blue-lighted to the scene and after speaking to witnesses, both parties and reviewing CCTV, it was established that the boys had acted in self-defence after the woman had tried to take one of their bikes whilst under the influence.
“The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution and the boys were taken home.”
