A County Durham care home will unveil a special Christmas tree made entirely from colourful handmade pom-poms.

The festive creation stands proudly at HC-One’s Grampian Court Care Home in Peterlee, where it was crafted through a community project that began in January.

Residents, families, staff, friends, and even the local school contributed to the tree, making it a symbol of togetherness and creativity.

Emma Brown, home manager at Grampian Court, said: "This project has been a labour of love.

"It’s wonderful to see everyone come together to create something so joyful and meaningful.

"We can’t wait to share it with the local community and kick off Christmas in style."

The tree also serves as a tribute to residents who took part in the project but have since passed away.

Grampian Court will officially unveil the pom-pom tree on December 2, from 11am to 2pm, and members of the public are invited to join the celebration.

The event will include a Christmas party with music, refreshments, and a performance by a professional singer.

"The pom-pom Christmas tree stands as a reminder of creativity, collaboration, and the enduring connections within the Grampian Court family.

"Everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate the season together."
